TRENT BUXTON

METHOD ACTOR

ABOUT ME

Trent Buxton is originally form San Jose, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley. He was heavily defined by his
athleticism growing up. He was accomplished in several sports: a league and section champion wrestler, black belt in
shotokan karate, starting wide receiver in football as a sophomore in high school, batted over .800 in the senior baseball league, with
All Star honors.
Coming from a broken abusive home, sports and martial arts were an escape outlet whereby he developed his unique
intensity and focus. Yet, Trent was on own by the age of 16, hustling just to eat as his relationship with his father was a
tough one.
At West Valley College he played football, but found that sport had become more of a job. Soon he discovered Mixed
Martial Arts at the nearby American Kickboxing Academy. There he trained in submission fighting under Frank Shamrock.
Trent next moved to Santa Barbara, Ca. for school and ended up working at CDM telemarketing firm that was a real life
Boiler Room. It was raided by the FBI one day while he was working there.
Trent trained at State Street boxing club where he was first introduced to the underground world of fighting. At that time,
these unsanctioned fights were referred to as NHB (No Holds Barred) . Meaning no gloves. Minimal rules meant fights
took place on rooftops, abandoned warehouses, and other makeshift arenas. But Trent was able to pay rent and eat regularly
with these fights.
A niche that also gave him a rush, Trent branched out into the Fraternity Fight nights circuit of the nearby UCSB. But he
was banned by the college’s fraternities, due to his unparalleled talent for violence and apparent skills, as well as the damage
he dealt to opponents.
Soon he bounced around numerous gyms such as Fairtex, the Pit, and various Gracie BJJ dojos, but ended up back
where he started in the Bay Area. (The MMA sport and brand of UFC hadn't quite hit mainstream yet.) Living like a broke
savage out of his car just to train, he also had a tough time keeping up with healthy nutrition.
Trent had to find a better way to live. He decided to put his skills to good use by protecting people, instead of hitting them
on a field or in a cage. In the world of executive protection, he eventually went to POST (Peace Officer Standards
Training) academy to become a law enforcement officer. This was an opportunity to remedy his abusive childhood by
helping people feel safer, just as he once longed for.
He worked in corporate security for the influential executives of Silicon Valley. One of his clients was the largest
shareholder and board member of Google at that time. At night, he was the security doorman at the most happening
downtown San Jose nightclubs.
Then, an opportunity came to join the Department of Homeland Security in Los Angeles. Trent quickly packed his car to the
roof, relocated to the City of Angels, and camped out on a friends couch. But the job fell through. So Trent fell back into
protection for clients in the entertainment industry. He worked odd and questionable jobs, collecting money, doing off book
tasks, and driving principals.
He developed an extensive list of celebrity clientele as well as underworld connections, eventually managing a security firm
that handled 24 hour emergency responses. In Beverly Hills, he worked with one very famous celebrity who had a very
public historical meltdown at the time.
These body guarding experiences gave Trent a unique view of famous lives, the double edged sword celebrity can be, the
surreal aspects you only see in movies, and the reality behind closed doors. Eventually while serving these clients, Trent
felt like a minion and slave.
Eventually , he rejected the risking of his own life for narcissistic folks who could care less. He decided to enlist in the
US Air Force and serve the country. Soon Trent was an Intelligence and Counter Terrorism Specialist. He held a Top
Secret/SCI clearance and is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom AFG war. He was also part of an elite CDTF
(Counter Drug Task Force). After severe injuries sustained during his military service, he was Honorably Discharged.

Trent was left permanently disabled and found himself alone again and confronted by what purpose his life would now
have. But if you were to ask him if he'd do it over again and serve, he says definitely yes! Major surgeries did not restore
his physical abilities and he was told he'd never be the same again. Eventually, depression sunk in. The demons of PTSD,
chronic pain, permanent disfigurement, and disability became daily challenges.
Then, an old LA client begged him to come back to work for him. Unable to turn down such money, he became this very
affluent figure’s "consultant." Not realizing the role he was actually taking on, Trent found himself inserted in the middle of
a war between two shady outfits. Not the life for him, but he had become a financial slave again.
Trent's battle with PTSD and depression became unmanageable when it affected his physicality so much. He isolated and
rarely would leave his dark fortress. His urgent requests of the VA for help were unanswered and burdened him with
unbearable frustration. Ready to die, he felt no prayers were heard anymore.
One day, he finally decided to try to do something different. Something opposite of what he had always done, and get out of
his comfort zone. Using his GI bill educational benefits, he decided to be around people completely opposite of what he had
ever known. He was accepted and enrolled to the 2 year program at the Lee Strasberg Institute of Method Acting in West
Hollywood. He thought exploring a psychological approach to his traumas and experiences through drama and expression would be
therapeutic. He was amazed at his breakthroughs and the passion that had been lit inside him he never knew existed. Now
the goal is to be a true artist, after making a living from so much destruction his entire life. Now he had found a way to feel,
express, interpret and create. Trent is also a writer and a poet.
Trent is a firm believer in finding something you love as a profession, and you will never work a day in your life. He prides
himself as an extremely hard worker and fast learner.
Acting has saved his life, and he is very grateful for the people he has have met along this path. Now he has the opportunity
to express his interpretations of life, its beauty, darkness, even truly depicting evils that exist. And to see the miracle it is
that the chaotic tragedies that test us, can produce scars and but also so much beauty; our human essence.
